AbleCommerce has unlimited flexibility to create products, webpages, and links to
other websites. Each item in your catalog can be assigned to several different categories,
so you'll be able to provide a variety of navigation through the store menu. The
catalog also serves as a basic content management system. When you add your own
webpages, you'll be able to choose from different page layouts, themes, and easily
incorporate additional content throughout your store.
The types of items you can add to your catalog are products, webpages, categories,
and links. Each item can be copied, moved, sorted, edited, deleted,
or previewed. Each item also has visibility settings, so they can be viewed publicly,
viewed by direct link, or locked and inaccessible. These can be changed at any time
and make it very easy for you to work on your live store.
Each of the catalog items have common features like an image, summary, description,
display page, and category assignments. Start with the built-in display pages, or
you can try creating custom pages using scriptlets - the html portions of the webpage
that include a header, footer, left and right sidebar, and content area. Scriptlets
can be customized directly through the merchant menu, or as individual html files
on the server. There are over 40 display pages included to handle everything from
your home page to the customer's invoice. Create as many new display pages as you
like for a totally customized store.
Create your own product templates that can be used to collect information from your
customer or an admin entering new products. Use the merchant fields to
customize and add additional product information, such as shipping timeframes or
additional product codes. The fields can be used in all sorts of ways, and the great
thing is that you can create a single template and assign it to as many products
as you like. Of course, you can create as many product templates as you need.
The customer fields of the product template can be used to collect information from
the user making a purchase. Maybe you would like to offer custom engraving or embroidering?
Then create a product template that asks your customer for specific information
when they order.

Your Merchant Dashboard comes with a search form at the top, so at any time, you
can enter a word and search through all the categories, products, webpages, links,
digital goods, warehouses, and users in your store. Just enable Full Text Search
through your SQL 2005+ database and increase the performance for even faster searching.
Sophisticated Digital Goods Management
Use the file manager to upload your digital good files and organize them into folders.
Each file you upload can be automatically assigned to an associated digital good
item. These "digital goods" can be configured with download policies,
a license agreement, readme, distribution of serial keys, and automated email notifications.
When the digital goods are assigned to products and purchased, the download file
will become available to the customer from their online invoice. License/serial
keys can be automatically distributed from a pool of free keys you assign to the
digital good product.
