The Merchant Administration Guide describes each area of the online interface used for building and maintaining stores. The chapters are organized based on the order each administration area is located on the Left Navigation Menu.
Menus that use select boxes are enabled for double clicking. Double click the item to open the edit interface.
When you log in to the Merchant Administration you will have a tree style navigation menu on the left hand side. AbleCommerce provides two different menu modes, one organized "by category" and the other "by product".
The menu organized by category (as shown above) is the primary navigation system. It includes the category tree for the store as well as links to all other store administration functions. A brief description of each section follows.
Currencies allow you to configure how monetary amounts will be displayed to your customers.
The Customer menu lets you search through your existing customers and manage user groups for your store.
Define Quantity Discounts for a particular product based on an amount or a percentage off of the purchase price.
Use the Images menu to organize your store images. You can upload new images and delete old ones.
Use the Payment Method screen to indicate what methods of payment you accept for your store.
Product Batching features allow you to add, edit, or update several products at once.
Reports gives you valuable information about your site. You can get sales summaries and find out about popular products and customers.
Shipping allows you to specify methods of shipping for your products and collect shipping and handling charges.
Store Settings contains miscellaneous configuration options for your store such as email and inventory.
The menu organized by product (as shown above) is a secondary navigation system. Underneath the Product menu item all of the products in your store are listed in alphabetical order. This can make it easy to find a particular product quickly.
Note that this menu mode does not work well for stores with a large number of products. For these stores, it is recommended to use the Batch Edit function to search for the product and then access it by the link provided in the search results.
This menu also includes links to the Product Batching and Preview functions, which operate the same as detailed above.
A new store requires additional setup procedures in order to be completely operational. These are listed below and should be reviewed and completed before beginning ecommerce transactions.
