UPS OnLine® Tools are Internet-based applications that can enhance the shipping functionality of your online store and improve customer satisfaction. The integrated UPS OnLine® Rates & Service Selection Tool automatically calculates the cost of a shipment based on the weight of the package and the delivery destination. Since the cost of each shipping service is automatically calculated, your customers will be able to compare and choose from the variety of shipping services offered that best serve their needs and budget.
UPS functionality is not available in all countries. Access www.ablecommerce.com for a current list.
Before configuring UPS OnLine® Tools with AbleCommerce, you will need to register with UPS. Registering with UPS is designed to establish a relationship between your company and UPS. This will help keep you and your company informed about the latest UPS news, updates, and services. Registering is a simple process that is done through AbleCommerce.
To begin the registration process, click UPS OnLine® Tools from the left navigation menu.
An image shown below will be shown.
Click the link named Click Here To Register.
The following registration form will appear.
Fill out the registration form and when you have completed the required information, click Finish.
Once you have submitted your information, you will then be presented with a licensing agreement as shown below.
This licensing agreement contains the terms and conditions that you will be entering into with UPS if you select to accept the agreement. This agreement should be printed out and kept for your company records. Once you have read the agreement carefully, scroll to the bottom of the page and select whether or not you accept the terms of the licensing agreement. By accepting the terms of the agreement, you will then proceed to the page where you will be able to configure the UPS OnLine® Tools settings.
As soon as you accept the UPS OnLine® Tools licensing agreement, you will be shown a screen similar to the one depicted below.
This is where you select the shipping services that you will offer to your customers. You can select multiple shipping services by holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard while simultaneously selecting each shipping service you will offer.
Below is a list of services and estimated time of delivery. Rates obtained by AbleCommerce are based on the merchant having a Daily UPS Pickup and using their own packaging (as opposed to UPS-supplied packaging). Additional shipping options such as oversize packaging or insured shipments are not currently available in the rates provided. Real-time rates are calculated using total order weight and the delivery destination.
Not all services are available in all areas and depending on the delivery destination, delivery times may vary. For complete and up-to-date information on UPS delivery methods, visit the UPS website at www.ups.com.
You can configure a shipping surcharge that is always added to the shipping cost for packing expenses and handlng. However, the surcharge will not be added to the real-time rate provided by the UPS OnLine® Rates & Service Selection Tool. The surcharge will be shown as a separate line item on the invoice. This allows customers to view the UPS published shipping rate independent of additional surcharges.
Turn the optional Excess Value Insurance option on or off. Each UPS package shipped domestically, or international shipment, is automatically protected by UPS against loss or damage up to a value of $100 (U.S.). Subject to certain limitations and exclusions, additional protection up to $50,000 (U.S.) per package is available upon request. The charge for each $100 of insured value, or fraction thereof, is $.35 (U.S.).
Integration with the UPS OnLine® Tracking Tool allows AbleCommerce merchants access to real-time shipping status reports directly from UPS. Any order shipped via UPS can be updated with a UPS Tracking Number, which will enable customers to view their order directly from your site.
When viewing an order, merchants have the opportunity to provide a shipment tracking number. When a value is entered, two things will happen. First, a Tracking button will be enabled so that Merchants can check the tracking status right from the View Order screen.
Second, a link will be displayed for customers (via the customer "View Account" screen) for access to real-time tracking reports.
Now that you have configured UPS OnLine® Tools, your customers will be able to compare the cost of the different shipping methods available and make their shipping selection accordingly. An example checkout page is shown below.
Pages that display information related to UPS will automatically include the UPS Mark as well as notices and/or disclaimers. Do not attempt to remove, alter, or interfere with the display of the UPS Mark. Refer to the Access User Terms Agreement (provided at registration) for more information.
If you are going to ship packages using UPS services, but are not doing so through UPS OnLine® Tools, a rates disclaimer will appear at the bottom of the checkout page. The following image shows the rate disclaimer because a custom shipping method has been set up through the Shipping page of AbleCommerce rather than UPS OnLine® Tools.
