Inside the class "container" which houses the main central content - below the header, and above the footer - contains a <div class="row content"> that by default contains a rotating banner and featured products. I know how to modify the content withinthat div via the cms quite easily.

What I would *like* to do is add a <div> next to that div that I can code custom myself, because I am changing the display of "container" likely to flex or grid. I'm trying to find the file I can modify or whatever where I can do that.

If you go to Website > Store Design > Inner Templates in the Admin backend, you should see the layouts under the content tab. Look for Home Page. Here you can edit or create your own HTML Snippets to insert or remove existing ones.

You could also do this at the front end when logging in as an admin, but I've actually deactivated this feature because I found it just gets in the way.

You can edit the inner template and page layout HTML from admin UI. Please see the screenshot.
