The phone number field in the checkout form allows any character to be used both alpha or numeric and only one character minimum is required to checkout complete. This was caught on our Production sight when a customer was able to place an order. They used US as the phone number. We tested this on our test sites as well and confirmed this is a bug.

Hi Ricky,

We don't enforce validation on this field, only that there is some data entered.

With phone validation, it's tricky because the phone format can vary depending on the country. Anything from 4 digits to 15, with several acceptable characters. To do it right, each country should have its own validation code.

I checked AbleCommerce Gold, and there is no validation for phone numbers there either.

This needs to be a feature request instead, but it would probably make more sense to add some custom validation in your store that would check the field data depending on which countries you sell to.

Sorry. I totally misunderstood. I was testing the phone number field from the Billing Address form.

Actually, I'm not aware of any payment integration that uses a phone number field. Which one are you using?
