About eight years ago, Motorola decided to implement MAP pricing on their two way radios and some accessories. Ablecommerce, out of the gate, had no issues with this because you had "Require user to click a link to view price".

But an interesting situation has occurred, and I would like to get some feedback if possible. To be compliant, Motorola like any other company will hire a third-party vendor to use bots to crawl your site and make sure you're in compliant.

We all know how bots works, nothing has changed in the past 15 years. They crawl through your site by the way of hyperlinks. Well, it so happens that I'm getting many false positives from these bots because when they encounter the hyperlink "Require user to click a link to view price", they automatically click, the price shows up, and they think I'm in violation, which obviously I am not.

These bots usually we'll ignore anything with the tag <button>, This is why the "Add to Cart", does not result in a false positive.

Unfortunately, the people that head up the Motorola department are not the sharpest, and I am so tired of telling them just go to the site and see it with your own eyes, no one is advertising pricing unless a user clicks or participates on the site, which is what map pricing is all about.

We live in a world where the information on a report or on a computer screen is the word of God, and people are not willing to take an extra step to connect the dots. Thank goodness when I was growing up I played with plenty of Legos and was able to connect many things.

So, one idea is to enclose the "Require user to click a link to view price" with button tags, using a class that hides the border, and just make it look like a regular link.

The thinking is that the bot, we'll see the button tags and stop reporting false positives. But I'm curious if support or anybody else can weigh in and just offer some other suggestions.

Any feedback is welcome,
-Ray

Hi Ray,

I have reviewed the case and I think the solution you mentioned should work.
Alternatively using rel='nofollow' attr might also work. Please see this link https://stackoverflow.co...-link-with-jquery-action

The user has exactly the same scenario.

Hope it will help!
