Hi, everyone.

Is it possible to have same product in multiple warehouses? We do have right now two warehouses, one for Canada (Canadian address) and one for USA (USA address), but we want to have the same product in these two warehouses, which isn't allowed in AbleCommerce, once assigned to a warehouse you can't reassign to a different warehouse. Why?

Can Katie or someone else enlighten me how can I fix or workaround it?

Hello!

A warehouse determines the shipping origin, so the address of the warehouse is used to provide shipping rates. That's why a product can only be in one warehouse. A customer will never see which warehouse a product is in while shopping.

You can change the warehouse from the product editing page. It's under the "Shipping and Tax" section.

If you let me know what you are trying to accomplish, I might be able to offer a different solution.

I'm sorry, but that is not something AbleCommerce can do.

Almost anything is possible, but this would require a deeper customization.

Other questions come to mind, such as -

Would you want the shipping calculation during checkout to calculate based on the shortest distance between a warehouse and the customer, or do you simply want to handle the warehouse location post-order, during the fulfillment process.

Do you need to maintain inventory on a per-warehouse location?

The answers would impact how much effort it would take to customize.

Regardless, it is an interesting feature request for a multi-warehouse support.
